COCKOO, A FROG IS SINGING..

The insiders team get to know our Frogs 

Do you remember when you were four and everything seemed to be extremely easy? When playing was your only concern? Well, this week in Insiders we have been infiltrators in Frogs, our four year old students, and we definitely miss those days!

At the beginning we got to the class (which had already started due to timetable differences) and everyone was gathered together in a circle. All the kids were sat on the floor as well as the teacher and her assistant, both down on their knees to be at the same level as the students.
The methodology used was quite interesting. As you may imagine, the kids didn’t speak English though that didn’t mean they weren’t able to comprehend their teachers, in fact, their understanding was outstanding!

This is thanks to the clear and short messages plus the sweet and loud voice the teacher used when talking to them.
Referring to the activities, they were learning body parts, specifically the face. They sang, they played, they painted… they learned through games which, as we were able to observe, was pretty useful for them. That way, they were able to learn new vocabulary without even realizing!
In the end we weren’t able to finish the lesson but we got everything we needed, we saw how the class was taught, we watched the kids’ attitude towards English and we enjoyed it as if we were four year olds again. ¿Recuerdas cuando tenías cuatro años y todo parecía extremadamente fácil? Cuando jugar era tu única preocupación. Bien, esta semana en Infiltrados hemos estado con las Ranas, nuestros alumnos de 4 años, y definitivamente, echamos de menos esos días…
Al principio fuimos a clase (que ha había empezado por la diferencia en los horarios) y todos estaban juntos en círculo. Los niños estaban sentados en la colchoneta en el suelo igual que su profesor y el asistente, ambas de rodillas para estar al mismo nivel que sus alumnos.
La metodología utilizada era bastante interesante. Como podréis imaginar, los niños aún no hablan inglés pero eso no significa que no pudieran entender a sus profesores, de hecho, su comprensión era sorprendente. Esto es gracias a los mensajes cortos y claros de sus profes además de la voz dulce y alta utilizada por su profesora al hablarles.

Respecto a las actividades, estaban aprendiendo las partes del cuerpo, específicamente, la cara.
Cantaron, jugaron y pintaron… aprendieron a través del juego que, según observamos, les resultaba muy útil. De esa forma, aprendían vocabulario sin ni siquiera darse cuenta.
Al final, no pudimos quedarnos hasta que terminase la clase, pero teníamos lo que necesitábamos, vimos cómo se enseñaba la clase, observamos la actitud de los niños en ella y disfrutamos como si volviésemos a tener 4 años de nuevo. ¡Ha sido una experiencia maravillosa!
